About the LHS Strolling Strings
The LHS Strolling Strings were founded in 1991 by Sue Rolá, who guided the group until her retirement in 2014. The group is a high energy, enthusiastic group of young musicians who perform throughout the Greater St. Louis area. They perform mostly on the week nights and weekends for functions such as banquets, holiday parties, weddings, community events, church groups, civic organizations and school functions.
Through this alternative style of string playing students are exposed to various styles of music such as rock, fusion, and jazz. Strolling Strings provides students with a unique performing experience which builds character, self-esteem, and creativity. It improves memorization and communication skills, stage presence, and coordination. Strolling Strings teaches musicians how to truly give the gift of music and to share their talent with others! Strolling Strings has had the honor of performing at numerous National Strolling Strings Conventions, and was recognized by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt in 2007 for its performance at the National Festival of States in Washington D.C. Now under Ms. Tara Landers' direction, the group's repertoire will continue to evolve with an emphasis on melding various musical styles. The future of the group promises to be fruitful and exciting. Landers, a former Lindbergh graduate and Stroller herself, is taking the group to new heights! |
